Flying Sikh is Now a Shining Star in the sky.

One Milkha singh set a example in making of new Milkha’s in sports industry.
“Don’t worry, I am in good spirit…I am surprised, How could I get this infection?…I hope to get over it soon,” Milkha had said in his last interaction with PTI before being hospitalised. On 14 June Milkha Singh lost his wife and 4 days later he also died.

One of the most inspiring person of sports industry is taken his last breath on 18th June at 11.30pm (approx). We all see the success of a person but most of times we forget to see the struggle of a person. In his childhood he loses his family in India-Pakistan partition.Milkha was born in a Rajput Sikh family at Govindpura village in Punjab (present-day Punjab, Pakistan). Milkha Singh had a very tragic childhood. He witnessed the murders of his parents, a brother, and two sisters. But he never lose hope. Milkha Singh always believed in hard work, he firmly believed that hard work never fails. Milkha used to train 7 hours a day. Sometimes he also felt that he would drop dead while training. There have been times when he put on oxygen in the hospital as he occasionally faint after training. Success itself define Success but when Failure define your success it means that you did something very prosperous and amazing for yourself and your Nation too. “When he lost the medal in the 1960 Rome Olympics by one-hundredth of a second because of a blunder, it brought tears in his eyes, Milkha Singh had led the 400 metres race till the 200-metre-mark, before he lost steam short of the tape to finish fourth, pipped to the bronze by one hundredth of a second. Milkha Singh was rejected at the recruitment stage thrice before he finally succeeded in qualifying for entry. And then he was able to get training facilities there which helped him tremendously in improving his inherent capabilities. When the invitation came from Pakistan for a race competition, Milkha initially refused to go. But later he was persuaded by Jawaharlal Nehru who told him to keep aside the memories of the Partition and go for a race and when he won the race in Pakistan in 1960 against Abdul Khaliq which brought tears into his eyes — though of happiness. Pt. Nehru was also awarded the coveted Padma Shri to Sprinter for his success in the 1958 Commonwealth Games. The title of Flying Sikh was given to him by Pakistan President Field Marshal Ayub Khan who was impressed by his feat after defeating Khaliq.
Milkha Once Said “Mera record todne wala India mein paida nahi hua (the one who can break my record is not born yet in India),” he had famously said in 1991 and he hung on to that belief even when that record was shattered. After losing Gold medal in 1960 in rome, Milkha Singh retained his 400-metre gold at the 1962 Asian Games and also took another gold as part of India’s 4 × 400-metre relay team. He made a final Olympic appearance at the 1964 Tokyo games as part of the national 4 × 400 team that failed to advance past preliminary heats.Milkha Singh was awarded the Padma Shri (one of India’s highest civilian honours) in 1959. After his retirement he served as the director of Sports in Punjab. Milkha Singh will always be remembered.
